ROLLINS FORD PUMP TRACK

The Prince William Parks Foundation has set out to raise funds to design and construct the Rollins Ford Pump Track, which it envisions will become a hive of community activity. This project will create a space for all ages and abilities with an asphalt riding surface that is appropriate for all wheeled sports from bicycles to skateboards, scooters and wheelchairs.

OUR PARTNERS

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Rollins Ford Park, under construction in Western Prince William County, will include athletics fields, a destination playground, basketball court, pavilions, dog park, walking trails, and wildflower meadows. The site plan also calls for the county’s first-ever pump track to be added in the future when additional resources are available. A pump track is a circuit of hills and banked turns ridden completely by riders pumping their legs and gliding instead of pedaling or pushing. They are popular for children learning to ride on pedal-less balance bikes, but also cater to youth and adult riders using standard bikes.

As riders improve their skills, the tracks are designed to provide the option for more challenges with increased speed and skill, without needing to change the construction. Bicycle pump tracks ensure biking is a sport that can be enjoyed by anyone, regardless of age or ability.

*Design is subject to change.
