If you don’t see what you’re looking for, call CARS (Charitable Adult Rides & Services) at 855‑500‑7433 — they’re available seven days a week and ready to help.

What vehicles can I donate?
We accept most cars, trucks, motorcycles, trailers, boats, RVs, off‑road vehicles, heavy equipment, and other motorized vehicles. If you’re unsure whether your vehicle qualifies, call 855‑500‑7433.

Is my donation tax‑deductible?
Yes! Tax situations vary, so please consult a tax professional to understand how your donation may benefit you.

How much will my tax deduction be?
Your deduction is based on the sale price of your donated vehicle. For details, refer to IRS Publication 526, which outlines rules for valuing donated property.

What do I need to donate my vehicle?
You’ll typically need the vehicle’s title. If you can’t locate it, call us anyway — alternative arrangements may be possible.

My car hasn’t run in years. Can I still donate it?
Yes. Most vehicles can be accepted whether they run or not, as long as they’re intact and towable. Some very low‑value vehicles may not qualify. To confirm, complete the online donation form or call 855‑500‑7433.

Can you pick up vehicles in all 50 states?
Pick‑ups are available across most of the continental United States.

How will my vehicle be picked up?
A licensed tow company will contact you to arrange a convenient pick‑up time. Towing is free, and the vehicle will be taken to a designated sale location.

How long does pick‑up take?
A pick‑up appointment is usually scheduled within 2–3 business days. If you need it sooner, call 855‑500‑7433 — expedited arrangements may be possible.

How does the law affect my tax deduction?
If your vehicle sells for more than $500, you’ll receive IRS Form 1098‑C, stating the gross proceeds from the sale. This amount becomes your tax‑deductible value.

Will I get a tax receipt?
Yes. You’ll receive an initial donation receipt at pick‑up that includes the vehicle’s details.
If your vehicle sells for more than $500, a Form 1098‑C will be mailed to you within 30 days of the sale. This serves as your official tax receipt.

How is my vehicle’s value determined?
Your deductible value is based solely on the gross sale proceeds of the vehicle.

What can I claim as a deduction?
If the value of your donated vehicle exceeds $500, you may deduct the amount of the gross proceeds from the sale.

What if my car is worth more than $5,000?
Appraisals are no longer required. Your deduction will be the amount the vehicle sells for.

Does my vehicle need to run?
Not necessarily. Vehicles must have an engine and be towable. Call 855‑500‑7433 to confirm eligibility.

Do I need a smog certificate?
No. In states that require smog checks or safety inspections, you may still donate your vehicle without these documents.

What paperwork do I need?
You’ll need a clear title. Any lien holders must be released according to your state’s requirements. Check your local DMV for specific instructions.

Do I need to notify the DMV after donating?
Every state has different rules. Some require returning license plates; others require filing a Release of Liability. Contact your local DMV to confirm the correct steps.
