A Mobile Recreation Van for the Science in the Park (SIP) Program
Making Science Accessible
Imagine a classroom that can travel to any park or school in Prince William County, bringing microscopes, environmental experiments, and hands-on discovery directly to children.
Science in the Park will transform a van into a traveling outdoor nature-based classroom, allowing programmers to deliver immersive experiences throughout the county’s parks and community spaces.
With this mobile classroom, children won’t just learn about nature; they will explore it, test it, and discover it themselves.
Why This Matters
Prince William County has over 5,000 acres of parks and natural areas, but many children have limited access to outdoor learning. The program is in high demand with an increase in participation of 125% since 2022.
The Science in the Park mobile van will:
- Bring hands-on STEM learningdirectly to communities
- Connect children to local ecosystems and wildlife
- Support environmental education and conservation awareness
- Expand educational opportunities for schools and families
This program will reach thousands of students and families each year, inspiring the next generation of environmental stewards.
What your support will fund:
- The purchase, design, and launch of the Science in the Park mobile classroom.
- Together, we can create a one-of-a-kind traveling classroom that will serve Prince William County for years to come.
Estimated cost: $325,000
